(1) Public Outreach Planning Meeting
Who: You
Matt Li and Travis Hnidan are looking for volunteers to help organize the 2010 battle of the bands which will be happening in mid-October. The event will be one of our large fundraising and public outreach events for first semester so if you're interested in great live music, engaging the Edmonton public in international development and raising dollars to support our Africa programs, send Matt an email at matt@ualberta.ewb.ca
(2) Malawian Waterpoint Monitoring Support Needed
Have you ever wondered how you can get involved with our African Programs work directly without going overseas? Well now you can!
Megan Campbell, an African Programs Staff member in Malawi is looking for chapter level support for some important data comparison and analysis to aid in mapping waterpoint functionality in rural Malawi. If you have a strong understanding of data analysis and are excited to be able to directly work with our African Programs, send Fraser Mah an email atfraser@ualberta.ewb.ca, or email Megan directly at megan.patricia@gmail.com.
(3) Wanted: Retreats & Conferences Director & Newsletter Director
The dates for the first chapter retreat of the year have been set: September 17-18! If you are interested in being a part of the member learning team this year and helping organize retreats and conference details, now is your chance. Retreats and conferences are super exciting to be a part of because that is where a lot of the amazing idea sharing and community building take place, both within the chapter and EWB as a whole. This year, we're planning on having two chapter retreats (fall & winter), an Alberta retreat and sending a rocking delegation to National Conference 2011! Time commitment is likely to be only 1 or 2 hours per week most of the time, with a higher time demand in the days immediately leading up to each event. Contact Sierra (sierra@ualberta.ewb.ca) for more details or if you are interested in the position.
Looking for an easy way to get involved with EWB and hone your communications skills? You could be this year's newsletter director, and responsible for collecting news items and events for the weekly newsletter and mailing it on Sunday evening to all University of Alberta chapter members (over 1700+ people!). If you're interested, email Tyler at tyler@ualberta.ewb.ca
